Winter Day Dreaming

Here we are once again; March in New England and it’s cold. In all honesty it’s been a mild winter, but after having spent the last three years in San Diego, I can’t help but notice the difference. There really hasn’t been a lot of snow in Rhode Island and the lake only froze over for a few days before the temperature rose enough for the ice to break up. Despite the mild weather, I really haven’t been fishing much. We got out a few times when the weather was exceptional, but something about the short days just leaves me uninspired to be on the water.

Early Season Bass on the Fly

It’s that time of year again, March is in full swing and whether your home lake is open water or still cloacked in a wintery sheet of ice the urge to get your hands on that first Bass of the season is constantly in your head. For those of us further south, it’s not so bad, but I remember all to well the feeling of looking at a body of water covered in ice too thin for ice fishing, just waiting for a good wind storm and warm snap to blow thru and open up the lake.

Throwback Thursday

Recently, I was digging through some old hard drives and found this video we made 6 years ago. The video highlights some beautiful moments fly fishing with friends on my home lake in Rhode Island. While this video is older, in 2019 we will be filming more of the NSB series on the east coast. While the bass may not be as big as what California has to offer, the fishing is great and I hope you guys will enjoy the content. For now, enjoy this piece of NSB history from years past.

New School Nation

Behind every photograph, every fish, every rod, lure, or piece of fishing gear is an industry professional passionate about their craft and the fishing community. New School Nation, an interview series here on New School Bass, will focus on people throughout the entire Bass Fishing industry; from anglers to photographers, youtubers to lure makers and others involved in the fishing world. Each week, we will be interviewing a different professional to learn about them and to gain a better understanding of their relationship with the bass fishing community. Since New School Bass is still a young platform we decided the best way to begin the New School Nation series is by interviewing one of our own!

Happy Fathers Day

I have found as Ive gotten older that life tends to get in the way of the things that matter most. Monetary and financial burdens of the adult world suffocate the time and will to pursue the things that I am most passionate about. Through out my life fishing has always been one of those passions. The opportunity to be outdoors, crafting a skill in search of that one big catch or just a lazy day on the pond dropping a line with friends is second to none.
